Trump’s Russian oil threat pushes India to seek alternatives
Indian refiners are urgently seeking alternative crude oil supplies following US President Trump’s threat of additional sanctions on Russian oil. Bharat Petroleum Corp. and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. are targeting sources in the Middle East, North Sea, and Mediterranean to mitigate potential disruptions.
Jet fuel and commercial LPG prices reduced in April revision
LPG Price cut: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 41, effective April 1, 2025. In Delhi, the new price is Rs 1,762. This follows a Rs 6 hike in March after a Rs 7 reduction in February. Businesses such as hotels and restaurants are affected by these fluctuations. Domestic LPG prices remain unchanged.
Out with old, in with new(clear): Companies plan nuclear foray
Several companies including NTPC, NPCIL, Tata Power, and Adani Power are scouting sites for nuclear plants to support the government’s vision of 100 GW nuclear power by 2047. Stakeholder consultations are underway for changes to laws allowing private sector participation. NTPC and others have identified potential sites, particularly in coastal states.
