Natgas demand drops 10% in May as monsoon arrives early

India’s natural gas consumption saw a 10% year-on-year decline in May due to cooler temperatures and early monsoons, impacting gas-based power plant demand. This led to a 15% drop in LNG imports, with domestic production also falling by 4%. Elevated international gas prices further dampened imports as Indian buyers opted for cheaper liquid fuels.
